Language

I agree that language is a big part of who we are.
I agree that we have no direct access to reality, that all of our access is modulated through the model of reality that our brain constructs for us; and thus are perceptions are of the model, not reality itself.

Yet I cannot agree that reality is only a phenomenon that arises in language. There does in fact seem to be an external reality out there, even if our best access to it is highly modulated by our belief structures. One doesn’t need to believe in bullets or buses to die from one of them.

The language used by James Hollis is easily open to interpretations that could be extremely dangerous to individuals.

I agree that we can do a great deal with possibility, and we do so by bringing it to reality.

About Ted Howard NZ

Seems like I might be a cancer survivor. Thinking about the systemic incentives within the world we find ourselves in, and how we might adjust them to provide an environment that supports everyone (no exceptions) with reasonable security, tools, resources and degrees of freedom, and reasonable examples of the natural environment; and that is going to demand responsibility from all of us - see www.tedhowardnz.com/money
