A comment about a Dan Hermansen interview on sovereignty.

A small opening into the much deeper discussion of the nature of the necessary boundaries and responsibilities between individual freedom and collective survival, with all the layers of responsibility necessarily present?

Just what does te tino rangitiratanga mean – to each of us individually?

What do mana and kaitiakitanga mean?

What is the context of He aha te mea nui o te ao – he tangata, he tangata, he tangata?

For me – individual life and individual liberty come with necessary responsibilities of a duty of care to the lives and liberties of others, which necessarily implies a duty of care for the ecosystems that support us all. All levels of structure require boundaries for their existence. Real freedom must respect those required boundaries, and no more – and there must be eternal uncertainty as to exactly where those boundaries are in any specific context – reality does in fact seem to be that complex.

About Ted Howard NZ

Seems like I might be a cancer survivor. Thinking about the systemic incentives within the world we find ourselves in, and how we might adjust them to provide an environment that supports everyone (no exceptions) - see www.tedhowardnz.com/money
