The biggest cause of this tragedy is the competitive nature of our economic system, combined with the nature of being human, and the tendency in time of scarcity to revert to tribal groupings, and take the easy course of blaming the “stranger”, rather than the difficult course of actually examining and questioning the systems and cultures with in which we exist.

We have the technology to support universal cooperation, but money is predicated on scarcity, and anything universally available has no economic value.

So we have some deep issues to deal with.

The sooner we all start acknowledging them, the soon we will start to develop realistic solutions.
