Quora – how to live 20 years longer

Quora – What would you suggest to someone who wants to live 20 years longer?

Several things mentioned by some others here, and a few more:

Find activities that interest you and support others and the environment, and do them;

Stay as relaxed as possible;

Become as aware as possible of as many risks as possible, and develop as many risk mitigation strategies as you reasonably can, without becoming anxious or paranoid;

Eat a varied, plant based diet, as free as possible from processing and additives;

Supplement with vitamin C – at least 5g twice daily;

Make as many friends as possible;

Be as kind as you can to everyone you meet;

Get exercise frequently;

If you are vegan, ensure you get B12 (supplement) and Omega 3 (Linseed, Chia, Walnuts);

Be as cooperative as you reasonably can be, in as many contexts as you can;

Believe that you can live. For me, that belief became real in 1974 when as I completed undergrad biochem I realised that from a cell’s perspective, every cell alive today is the first cell (at each division, both cells are essentially the same) with different life histories from there out. Therefore the default mode of cellular life is indefinite, and the age related loss of function must be a secondary artifact, and therefore reversible. It should soon be possible to live twenty years longer, indefinitely.

About Ted Howard NZ

Seems like I might be a cancer survivor. Thinking about the systemic incentives within the world we find ourselves in, and how we might adjust them to provide an environment that supports everyone (no exceptions) - see www.tedhowardnz.com/money
