Judge ouselves

By what standards do you judge yourself?

What sense judge?
Is judge used in the sense of fine judgement – the ability to be able to see fine gradations of variation across a large number of dimensions (including dimensions of space, time and context); or
is judge being used in the declarative sense of a judge pronouncing a simple binary “truth” like guilty or innocent?

These two senses of judgement are very different.

I am all in favour of people building their abilities in the first sense, and not at all in favour of the dominance we observe of the use of the second sense.

The more people see commonality, and the more we work cooperatively (which requires that we each individually pay the price of identifying and penalising cheating behaviours), the better off we will all be.

Sure, we had to have simplistic approximations to such things in our cultural past, and we need to go beyond all such things if we are to have any reasonable probability of surviving into the far future.

About Ted Howard NZ

Seems like I might be a cancer survivor. Thinking about the systemic incentives within the world we find ourselves in, and how we might adjust them to provide an environment that supports everyone (no exceptions) - see www.tedhowardnz.com/money
