May 15-21, ’17 ~QofDay~ Mother’s

What is “a Mother?”

In the simplest possible usage, a mother is a female parent.
And like most words in the English language, the derivations from there are almost unlimited.
Mother can refer to anything that has a role in birthing or sustenance, as in Mother Earth etc.

And given the proximity to Mother’s Day – I think of my own mother, and the profound role she played in my life; and of my wife Ailsa, and her role in my life, as mother to our children and as my partner in life.

It seems that like most things human, there are many aspects to being a mother, and only some of them are strictly tied to biological sex. We all have various aspects normally thought of as motherly, in various degrees.

So not at all a simple topic, one that could fill libraries actually.
