Ideapod – When ideas matter

When does an idea really matter?

How and when do we evaluate if #ideasmatter… upon inception, implementation or inspection of its effects?

Interesting discussion (#ideasmatter) between Kat, Justine, Alistair, and Deniz.

At the end they started to touch on the relationship between competition and cooperation.
Justine noted it was a complex topic.
I agree with him.

More than simply being complex, I think that not having a reasonable understanding of the details of that strategic relationship is actually posing an existential risk to us as a species, because far too many people have a very simplistic notion that evolution is founded in competition, leading to the notion that “greed is good” in an economic relationship.

Nothing could be further from reality.

Exclusive competition and short term greed are always, in all contexts, destructive for a species like ourselves.

A more useful understanding of the complexities of evolution includes the notion that all emergent levels of complexity are characterised by new levels of cooperation.
And it is a very complex topic.
Much more is required.
