Ideapod – Vertical farming

Ideapod – Vertical Farming

Agree with Nolan and Chris.
Yes, to a degree it is possible. And we cannot control every variable, and we can control the most destructive (wind and drought), and influence many others.
And certainly we need to get much better at recycling nutrients – totally redo our sewer systems, separate out and recover all organic nutrients and recycle them.

And choice of diet makes such a huge difference. I went vegan a little over 5 years ago, after being a carnivore for 55 years. The reduction in energy and water use is huge. Eating a plant based diet, mostly raw, is so much healthier.

And going really tall doesn’t make much sense. Most fruits and vegies can use all available light in just a few meters of height.
Keeping environments isolated, massive replication, is a major insurance against failure of any one – due to mechanical or biological reasons. Centralisation has many dangers in case of serious failure.

About Ted Howard NZ

Seems like I might be a cancer survivor. Thinking about the systemic incentives within the world we find ourselves in, and how we might adjust them to provide an environment that supports everyone (no exceptions) - see www.tedhowardnz.com/money
