On Truth, ignorance, risk and fear

It seems clear to me, that we have no access to Truth with respect to reality, and not much more with respect to theories.

It is now clear that all of our perceptions are not of reality itself, but of the model of reality that our subconscious brains assemble for us.

We can only experience reality through the percepts, constructs, heuristics and intuitions available to our models (most of which are derived from experience).

It seems that our ignorance is to a good first approximation, infinite!

It seems that knowledge is mostly illusion, and it is the best that we have, so we need to use it, and we need to “hold it lightly”.

In seeking to explore, one must be prepared to face risks that those who stay within known bounds are not aware of. There can be no absolute security for any finite entity in any infinity. Risk is real.

We each have our personal tolerances for risk in different contexts.

Ignorance of risk does not reduce risk, it only reduces fear.

About Ted Howard NZ

Seems like I might be a cancer survivor. Thinking about the systemic incentives within the world we find ourselves in, and how we might adjust them to provide an environment that supports everyone (no exceptions) - see www.tedhowardnz.com/money
