According to Caroline Myss, in Anatomy of the Spirit she makes this statement: “Some Relationships are necessarily painful because learning about ourselves and facing our own limitations are not things we tend to do with enthusiasm. We often need to be spiritually “set up” for such encounters.”
Do you think this is true for you in your life or have you grown more consciously on purpose?
At best I am an influence on the things that I do and the things that happen to me.
I make what choice I can, in the midst of this milieu of patterns we inherit from genetics and culture, and the external happenings of reality (in as far as any of us approximate what that actually is).
It seems to me that we are all sufficiently complex, and this reality we find ourselves in is so much more complex than any of our experiential models, that there is ample room for each of us to learn a potentially infinite series of lessons without any intentionality behind any of them.
I see a fair mix of intentional and random in my personal journey.
It seems to me that there is infinite room for each of us to continue learning lessons for the rest of eternity, and still find ourselves profoundly ignorant. Infinity is like than – vast beyond human comprehension.
