What Matters

1 Feb ’15: QofDay: What Matters?

How much does anything really matter in this life when ultimately we are all destined to leave it?

For me, life means whatever we choose to make it mean.

It seems quite clear that in and of itself, life doesn’t mean anything.

So it can mean a lot, to us, individually, what we do.

That is certainly the case with me.

For me it matters that I am committed to creating conditions that support individual survival (life) and individual freedom (liberty) in a context of responsibility toward the life and liberty of all others, and the integrity of the systems that support us all.

So for me, choices matter, consequences matter, and the longer the scope of the term of our thinking and the greater the breadth and depth of the paradigms and realms within which we consider potential consequences, the better for us all.
