Spend or Save

27 April 2014 ~Question of the Day~ Spend or Save

If I’m given a large sum of money I’ll spend all or most of it on some aspect of improving my quality of life NOW rather than putting it into the bank for a ‘rainy day’.
How do you handle your money?

We’ve got a little in the bank, and mostly we have invested in ourselves – house and farm and stuff.

We tend to spend some and save some, looking for a balance between living in the now and being prepared.

We also give $300 per month to Unicef, and bits to sundry other charities.

Mostly it is $320 a week to keep our daughter housed and fed in Auckland.

Last time we got a chunk of money we gave 10% to charity and spent about half within 12 months.

About Ted Howard NZ

Seems like I might be a cancer survivor. Thinking about the systemic incentives within the world we find ourselves in, and how we might adjust them to provide an environment that supports everyone (no exceptions) - see www.tedhowardnz.com/money
