Holograms and patents

3D augmented-reality holograms are finally here (almost)

Clearly the rate of change is continuing to change exponentially (double exponent) at the conceptual levels.

I want one of those things, to plug into my parallella board (with its 16 math processors).
Should enable some interesting low bandwidth coordination of complex 3D environment where we can transmit just the descriptions of movable segments, then update any changes in their vectors, and let the graphics engines do all the rendering of the visual effects. Just need some functions like “insert hinge” and “insert break” to show actual vs expected failure modes.

Not a great fan of patents, most of these ideas are really obvious once a particular set of technologies matures. Patents on specific technologies only, not on general concepts. Most ideas can be seen in operation in evolved systems, if one is sufficiently familiar with biology.

About Ted Howard NZ

Seems like I might be a cancer survivor. Thinking about the systemic incentives within the world we find ourselves in, and how we might adjust them to provide an environment that supports everyone (no exceptions) - see www.tedhowardnz.com/money
