Solstice

Question of the Day June 21, 2013 ~ June solstice of the year 2013

What does this particular June Solstice of the year 2013 mean in your life?

This has been the most violent midwinter week in living memory, with floods followed by snow in the same week over much of the South Island. Yesterday’s gale was the strongest on record in many areas, topping 200km/hr sustained winds in some places (not a hurricane, just a strong wind direct from Antarctica).

Ailsa claims this as her own day (being the shortest in the house).

I’ve spent most of the day inside, venturing out only to refill the woodbox.

Ailsa did finally get me to shift a couple of large mats she has for the lounge and dining room. Several hours work with all the stuff to be shifted, and all the dog hair to be vacuumed up.

The days start getting longer from tomorrow, but we’re still a month and a half from the coldest part of the year.
