I’ve been doing similar “crazy stuff” for over 20 years now, in many different ways, and I have a very different explanatory framework within which I have my stories about what is going on.
And yeah – it certainly works, and it is a multi level phenomenon, and it is worth practising.
One particular story was going to the Auckland Easter Show about 20 years ago, and being asked to be part of a magician’s stage act. I was quite happy to be hypnotised by a responsible individual, but this guy turned out not to be very responsible, and was trying to make money at other people’s expense.
It took exception to what he was doing, dehypnotised myself and all the other volunteers, and left him to be booed off the stage by a disappointed audience (even before training as a hypnotist myself, I would always retain some conscious awareness even under deep hypnosis – I never gave over total control to another).
On another occasion, a group of which I was a founding member got treated very poorly by government, and was about to break up as a result. I took all of that disappointment, rage and frustration upon myself, expressed it, and asked leave of the meeting to go away for the remainder of that meeting. Where upon I dissipated that energy, and the rest were able to continue as a cohesive group. Had I not taken that step, I think several other key players would have left permanently.
