Key to Success

Question of The Day March 14, 2013 ~ KEY To Success

Do you have an opinion or belief as to there being a KEY to success?

I’m much like OM.

First would be to choose what you consider success to be. In terms of that, I would strongly advise against using monetary measures of success.

Second is to never give up. Don’t necessarily keep doing the same thing over and over. Be prepared to accept that some things do not work, and be prepared to try some new way to achieve what you want. If you keep on doing that, then you are bound to succeed.

I would add a few others.
Accept yourself and others, as you are, and always be prepared to work towards making yourself better than you are. Constant small improvement can achieve a lot, and the first step in improving is to acknowledge where you are, and them choosing a path forward.

Look for the greatness in all (self and other) We all tend to be our own worst critics, when someone else sees greatness in us, it helps us to see it for ourselves. Often it is our own greatness that scares us more than our own inadequacies.

Be prepared to put in the time. As a good rule of thumb, it takes about 10,000 hours to become competent in most skills (5 years of 40 hour weeks, or 2 years of 15 hours a day, or 50 years of 4 hours a week).

Spend at least twice as long looking at how something can be done, as you do lookig at why it cannot be done.
