Where do you find the greatest joy?
I’m with Shar on this.
I find the greatest joy being of service to others.
My favourite realm for doing this is in the intellectual, and I also like fixing things in the physical realm, though not quite so fond of getting covered in grease as I was 30 years ago – though I quite enjoyed stripping down the two outboards last weekend and getting them running again, and confounding the young German WWOOFers who had never seen anyone pull a motor apart, and were quite astounded when I went around with my ear to the end of a plastic handled screwdriver listening to the motor (a mechanic’s stethoscope). Then when I removed the starter motor, undid a few screws and then hit it once with a hammer (exactly where, and exactly as hard as I wanted to, and it all came apart gently in my hand – their jaws dropped) – lotsa practice to do that.
I also get a great kick from fixing computers for people.
I get great joy from pushing boundaries, physical and intellectual.
I get great joy from my wife and family.
I get great joy from getting out into nature.
I get great joy from making things in wood, metal, concrete or earth.
There is joy in most things, provided they occur as a freedom and not as a requirement.
I tend to resist orders, but am very happy to help out with requests.
