Genius

Question of The Day for August 30, 2012 ~ Genius

How does the quality of genius manifest; particularly in very young people?
The answer would apply equally to exceptional ability.

It seems to me that most of us have the potential for genius, and what we develop into very often depends on the situations we find ourselves in and the choices we make during of those experiences.

Some say I have a certain genius, my IQ measures at 160+, and I retain a lot of what I read. And in my case, it is a long story.

Part of what I do is question stuff.

My tendency to question does not endear me to many corporate structures, and to many politicians.

It seems to me that for most people, we develop genius at what we do a lot of, and enjoy doing.

In Ailsa’s case, that is playing piano.

In my case, it is figuring out how stuff works, and how to make it work more efficiently.

For me, in young people, it is seeing those young people eager to engage in something (anything). We learn by doing, so seeing a child doing something is a strong indicator of a tendency to produce genius.

About Ted Howard NZ

Seems like I might be a cancer survivor. Thinking about the systemic incentives within the world we find ourselves in, and how we might adjust them to provide an environment that supports everyone (no exceptions) with reasonable security, tools, resources and degrees of freedom, and reasonable examples of the natural environment; and that is going to demand responsibility from all of us - see www.tedhowardnz.com/money
