Do you believe in coincidence?

I believe in statistics.

Coincidence happens.
Statistics show that it happens far more commonly than most people think likely.

When you factor into statistics, the power of the subconscious mind to pick up on subtle signals, it is not surprising that we see a lot of coincidence in our lives.

So yes, it happens, and mostly it isn’t anything unusual requiring any sort of weird explanation, it is actually what random chance predicts.

Agree with all you say, and I suspect we are on opposite sides of that divide, and as already agreed, having that discussion would likely take at least 20 hours, and would take many months in this sort of forum.

For me, the evidence is overwhelming that life and evolution is essentially driven by randomness, and a few basically simple strategies, with ever more complex strategies evolving over time as interactions allow. No trace of any over-arching intelligence involved – I have looked every place i can think of, and it just isn’t there.
