Road least travelled

Question of the Day August 7, 2011 – Road least Travelled

I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I-
I took the one less traveled by
And that has made all the difference.

Robert Frost

Heading out on your “road less traveled” in the metaphorical sense, what would you take with you?

I can go along with all written so far

Being something of the “be prepared” model, I’m likely to travel in the 4WD, with a month’s worth of food, solar panels on the roof to power the laptops, …………

Reading all the comments, I can empathise with all.
I have spent time travelling with only Tshirt and shorts.
I have travelled for many days with a pack that started at 85lb, and reduced as I went.
I have travelled most of the roads in New Zealand, over the last 40 years of driving. I found one out back of Taihape where the grass growing on the road was up to the bonnet of the car (obviously not traveled very often – though marked as a formed road).
I have lost everything, family, home, possessions; and found them again.
I have spent time at sea alone in small boats, out of sight of land.
I have dived below 100ft on a single breath, and to 185ft on SCUBA.
I have flown to over 20,000 ft in a glider.
I have swum out to sea far enough that I couldn’t see land any more, then turned around and swum back again.

These days, I appreciate the family and friends and community and possessions that I have; and I know that I can live without any of them.
I know that I can live alone, and without tools, and I know how hard that can be.

It doesn’t worry me that I don’t yet have majority agreement, and it is something that I aim to achieve.
I don’t want everyone on my path, what I want is for everyone to see that there are an infinite number of possible paths to get from anyplace to anyplace; and that the choice of both path and destination is personal. I want people to “get in their bones” that just because someone is going the other way at present, doesn’t mean they are not travelling to the same destination, and similarly, just because someone is travelling on the same path, doesn’t mean they are going to the same place.

Interesting thing this thing called life.
Interesting possibilities on offer.
Fascinating the tiny glimpses we get from time to time of infinite possibility.

Seems like I might be a cancer survivor. Thinking about the systemic incentives within the world we find ourselves in, and how we might adjust them to provide an environment that supports everyone (no exceptions) - see
